Tag -1

Preface:

Lines from srivatsan's blog

"As i had already said,I'm like waiting for tags.Filling a tag is good time-pass and it makes us explore ourselves. And who will not like to tell the world how they feel??
So,Im filling up the tag sent to me by Kasabian girl.

More about the TAG:
The idea is, to list five items in each category and not necessarily in order of liking. You can always add or subtract categories according to your will. Then tag five mortals."

This is the first 'TAG' i am involved with & the person who chose me to get tagged was none other than Srivatsan (He is the reason behind many of us blogging nowadays, at least i & Ganesh) He also requested me to write nothing but the truth in this tag. I believe that i have been true to me atleast while writing this :-)

The list begins here...

My five favorite words:

1. THAMIZH (தமிழ் )

It is a word which make me feel proud, the sound of it make me remember that i am a part of a great history, a great custom. The passion for this language is not just because it is old or that i am born in a society where they speak Thamizh. I have a strange feeling that this language is immortal and it would interests people forever and ever...

2. GOKUL

This is the word i hear more than any other word in a day. So, for obvious reasons i started liking it.

3. COMMUNISM

The word would be strange for some, mis leading for many.. For me it is a 'Revelation'. Imagine a world where people work together harmoniously. No masters to govern, no slave minds, that would be the heaven in earth.

4. OM

I don't know whether it should be classified as just sound or a word. I go for the later though, as Vedas says that this sound has a meaning(the meaning is said to be a divine one known only by god, i don't buy that theory but still i like this word) It gives a serene feeling to the mind

5. XXXXX

Whats that? well, it is a secret :-)

My five favorite celebrity crushes:

1. to 5.

I have never involved with girls much. Well, we can reframe that previous sentence "Not many were involved with me :-)". So i was left with no other option than to fall for girls On-Screen. My first crush was Juhi chawla for the innocent role she played in 'Andaz apna apna', the it was Preity Zinta. Isnt her dimple enough!!! should one need any other reason?

Then my crush list took a turn from mumbai to kerala. Meera jasmine got my eyes fixed(Run, Ayudha ezhuthu, Kasthuri maan), Bavana looted me away with her innocent looks in the films'Chithiram paesudadi' & 'Deepavali'...

But thats it, they no longer interests me. The Bubbly- Chubby thing isn't sticking to them anymore. :-(

My five favorite random things:

1. MY PC

All my personal stuffs are loaded into this stupid box. Be it a photo of my friend, or songs i love, or whatever important in my life.. All those things are stored as 1's & 0's in this god damn box. Loot my PC and you can bring my daily activities to an halt!!!

2. MY ROOM

It looks most of the time like a scene of catastrophe(unless my amma or sis voluntarily spend time cleaning it & brings it to order) Every Boy.. err Man would love his room. Isnt it?
Its where i dream, I quench my anger, shed my tears... It has almost become a part of my life, like a companion. I LOVE IT

3. MY ONLY GADGET

I am not a gadget freak. Out of the 3 mobile i have :-), the one(& only) which i am currently using is my favorite. It holds some very important info from my past. So for those special reason, i add it to my list.

4. MARINA

It is a spot like the "The Room Of Requirement (HP)", 'A PLACE FOR EVERYONE & EVERYTHING'. I go to this place with different kind of thoughts & emotions and it never fails to satisfy me. It is the one thing i say proudly of chennai.

5. A SECRET

What are you looking for? I said it is a 'secret'. isn't it?

My five Favorite films

1. GUIDE (Hindi)

R.K. Narayan's story, S.D. Burman's music composition, Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman's flawless performance woven into an excellent film... they called it 'Guide'. It is a must watch for those who Likes to be in the field of film making or atleast as those who love films :-)

2. KAL HO NAA HO (Hindi)

'A walk To remember' & 'Aanand' are of the same plot, but this film steals the heart with the spectacular performance of SRK and the trio combo music composers makes every penny you spend for the film worth. It came in a decade when bollywood was too much busy in Hip shaking numbers & fierce fighting sequences!!!. Wonder if SRK would ever come again with a plot & performance like that.

3. Tamil M.A

It's a bold experimentation on screen accompanied & supported by 'Realistic' casting, Unconventional yet beautiful Cinematography, matured composition of music by young Yuvan, etc... held under one title by means of careful direction. The film wasn't a Box office hit, but i am sure that it is a mile stone in the history of Tamil cinema.

4 & 5...

Lot of films, but just two more slots?
That wouldn't be fair, So i am listing all other notable films here

The pursuit of happyness
Wall-E
A walk to remember
Dark Knight
Gone with the wind
Alai payudhey
Mouna raagam
Kanathil Muthamitaal
Naayagan
Veiyil
Salangai Oli
Anbe sivam
A wednesday
Mozhi
Mounam Paesiyadhey
Children of Heaven

The list would continue...

Om is the sound produced by combining the last syllables of the names of the three Gods of Hinduism-Brahma,Vishnu,Shivam.
"Aa, oo and amm". Together pronounced, we hear, Om.

And didn't write about your favorite five fictional characters?

Black Light said...

I love only three fictional characters

&

"en uyirukkum melana nanba timon"
"poda porambokku pumba"!:D

i cant believe you didnt had a crush!

teach me what is communism..im still confused about it!:O

katradhu tamil is the collection of emotions what every middle class teenager feels!yet he forgets it when he goes to work!

Black Light said...

@ madzie

happy to know that we share some favorites:-)

Black Light said...

@ vatsan

I love both versions of timon & pumba. I used to watch it in hindi too..LOL

I never met any gal in my 'boys' school to have a crush :-)

The problem with communists is that they don't let communism evolve. As for me, communism is 'acceptable' equality. that is my perception

And for Tamil MA, it is not just the story which attracts me, there is dedication & sincerity in every part of it which took the story in the right direction.

But what you said was 99% truth dude.. we succumbs to our daily 'wants'

@all

Thank you very much for spending time reading it... thank you for the comments

None of the items on black's list matches mine... how pathetic!!

BTW.. juhi chawla?? :o who???

Rauf said...

katradhu tamizh is a sick film.. watchin it fully was a task.. i dont understand why people like sad films.. sometimes wonder if people have an inherent liking towards sadness.. perhaps to them being sad is happiness..

Black Light said...

@ you know how was here!!

Why should i feel pathetic ? :-o

Yours is the funniest comment i've ever seen.

@Abdul

In a film, Story is just a part & not the only part. That film had people; be it technicians or performers, who have shown sincerity on what they did.

If you want just story, better watch out for 'Naradha gaana sabha' or Kamarajar arangam's maargazhi 'naadaga' special...!

"perhaps to them being sad is happiness.."

Define & differentiate those two terms please :-)

Black Light said...

@you know how was here!!

So you should be Santosh!!! (So i come to know how you was here)

ah ya.. technicians.. take sivaji for instance.. awesome technique.. both in terms of science and finance.. but the movie sucked big time.. to me cinema is jus a story tellin device.. if naadaga sabha has got a good story i'm game.. however i shud agree that films are a better story teller.. i don give a damn abt the intricacies of film makin.. wat the hell.. even VIJAY films have amazing technicalities.. but nevertheless the movie sucks..

and abt the definition u asked.. u know exactly wat i meant... y ask!?

Parth said...

@Abdul
What about Pulp Fiction? Does it have any particular story? Nothing at all and thats the beauty, many say. As Gokul said, its the sincerity and passion put in ALL areas of the film. Sivaji sucked because it was done to achieve some purpose-namely boost Rajini's image and prevent it from falling still deeper in shit- and the beautiful art of film making was forgotten. If you write a book desiring your name to be written in the Best Sellers' list, it will be a disaster. Write something passionately-it maybe nothing close to a story, some rambling about east mada street, triplicane for instance, but if you do it with effortless passion, you'll see the result. Nishkamya karma, Gita calls it.

Parth said why. So no more explanations i guess.

i shud agree that films are a better story teller..

Yep!
you got it right! Film making is all about story telling. The story, even if it sucks can be made interesting if you are a good story teller.
Thats it.

The film maker tells the story to you in a way he likes it. If you are in the same frequency with the story teller, the film becomes your favorite. As simple as that.

I wont blame a vijay fan for hailing "Pokkiri". He expected something from the film & he is satisfied with that, That makes the equation solved.

If i dont like the film, thats my view and it would be too innocent & abrupt to say that the film is a whole piece of shit.!

and abt the definition u asked.. u know exactly wat i meant... y ask!?

I dont know what exactly you meant. These terms 'Joy', 'sorrow','love' etc... are just personal perceptions and in most case self generated delusions. So everyone has their own definitions for them. Generally those definition doesnt match with others.
So i thought of hearing your version of the definitions for them.

'What about Pulp Fiction? Does it have any particular story? Nothing at all'

are you kidding? which story is a story without story.. pulp fiction novels/movies have the most gripping and fantastic stories.. name one hit movie which doesnt have a strong story line..

and i disagree with u. u don need so much of a passion to make a brilliant movie.. u jus need analytical explanations of the script through which u can put yourself in the viewer's mind and then use the info to manipulate them..

tell u wat.. if free license to experiment was given to directors and a good story too, Perarusu can make a better movie than Ram. because its not jus about the passion but understanding wat the audience feel and want..

and gokul its too tiring to explain wat u asked for.. some other time..

Parth said...

@Abdul
I wasn't talking about pulp fiction in a generic way but a film by the name "Pulp Fiction"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110912
Its just a clump of loosely connected events well scripted and enacted yet doesn't bother to "tell" any story as a whole.

And its a common misconception that directors who "apparently" know what the people love, will make good films. All such directors-K.S.Ravi kumar, perarasu etc- and actors like "rasigargalukkaga naan vera ethuvum 'pudhusa' try panna virumbala" vijay, all these guys have failed to show consistent success. First of all "people" doesn't represent a single entity. If directors behave cheap to satisfy the majority, porn will be the all time favorite. Its not about taking for other people-external- but to satisfy the urge inside you-internal- to make a good film close to your heart. It will consequently be liked by most people who care to sit and watch it patiently.
Its not about logic or calculations as you say but a sincere attempt to piturise what your true feelings says.
