I am tagged by Madhu to list my Top 5 Brand names.
Peter England shirts, Ray Ban glasses, Fast track gears, Reebok Shoes & Denim jeans... That would be the one most of the teenagers would say.
But my most favorite brands aren't those. In fact i dont remember the brands of the gadgets i buy and end up in buying different brands each time.
Inspite of my 'short term memory' i do use some 'Branded' stuffs & i doubt whether you guys would recognize those brands...
Here is the list... lets see how many guys match with my taste ;)
1. Apsara Beauty Pencils - Extra Dark
I fell in love with it since my 6th grade, when i started Pencil sketching classes. Since then i have used many sort of pencils ranging from 2H to HB pencils of 'camlin', Natraj, etc...
None of them are match for this beautiful dark piece of graphite which leave a 'lively' trace on paper.
Be it free hand sketch or Engineering Drawing, this is the best for all sorts!
2. Colgate Toothpaste
This is the first thing i taste everyday ;) I never used any other brand i think!
3. Adyar Ananda Bhavan Sweets.
Yummy... Just the name of it creates appetite! I love all varieties of sweets there especially, the malai peda and laddus!
The purasaiwalkam branch was near to my home & i never miss to drop by it to have sweets! They sell almost everything related to sweets i guess!!! People of TN, check it out!
4. Olympus camera
This is one thing i really wish to have. I saw it for the first time in my school & from then on i used to track every model of it. They are the best (IMO) for Natural Photography and hope i'll buy one soon. As soon as i buy one, i'll post my first snaps here ;)
5. Titan Sonata
I like it for a number of reasons., 1. It is robust, 2. It is well designed & the quality is awesome, 3. It is worth the money & more importantly it requires less care / maintenance which is the 'must-needed' criteria for lazy freaks like me.
Thats it... BTW, guys i am going to a place where i will hardly get a chance to come online ;(
So i'll be outta this world for some time... catcha later ;)

love - sex & discrepancies...
I am a 'platonic' lover (in his words) & he is a 'matter of fact' lover (in my words). We run across each other at some points but never did converge at an end!
I said 'love is the thing which binds you within yourself & with every other thing in the world'
He has a slightly different opinion though.
Ya i do. Hi.!! Ganesh
Back to Gokul..
I am not explianing more of my side now...
Both have some points supporting our theories & here, we are going to share our views inorder to reach a more acceptable idea about 'love'.
Before that we need your help!
Nothing big but to 'define love'. We want it to be in your words and not those of some dead men, which is quoted all over the world in books & magazines. Just tell us what you think is the defining quality of love.
Once we get idea about other people's perception of love, we would post our final draft.
So click comment & post your definition.

கனவு
·

SHUTUP - LISTEN!!!
My amma used to say that she waited for more than 18 months to hear my first word since my birth. From then I shouted, yelled, yawped, complained, questioned, negotiated then argued, argued, argued...
Four years of Engineering taught me nothing but to argue. Argue in class, in canteen, and even in GD's!!! The last arguement i had was one of the best & conclusive!!! first of its kind, uh!
'I started arguing with myself to stop arguing.'
Afterall the mouth can be shut, so why dont give a try!
I still wonder why god/nature provided means to shut our mouth while the ears are kept open always!
Does the design requires us to listen always and to talk only when there is no other way?
Should i have listened more in the past rather than chucking worthless words?
should i have tried to understand the problem before discussing it?
had i miss the opportunity to laugh at other's stupidity?
had i miss a friend just because i never gave him time to speak?
I asked these questions to myself and to my surprise there wasn't any counter arguments within!
When there are no arguments to ponder upon, mind works fast to yield answer. (As generally believed, arguments don't always converge at a conclusion, however effective they might be. This is what i have learned after 21 years of survival)
So here i am preparing myself to celebrate my silence and to listen...
Hmmm...

Tag -1
Lines from srivatsan's blog
"As i had already said,I'm like waiting for tags.Filling a tag is good time-pass and it makes us explore ourselves. And who will not like to tell the world how they feel??
So,Im filling up the tag sent to me by Kasabian girl.
More about the TAG:
The idea is, to list five items in each category and not necessarily in order of liking. You can always add or subtract categories according to your will. Then tag five mortals."
This is the first 'TAG' i am involved with & the person who chose me to get tagged was none other than Srivatsan (He is the reason behind many of us blogging nowadays, at least i & Ganesh) He also requested me to write nothing but the truth in this tag. I believe that i have been true to me atleast while writing this :-)
The list begins here...
My five favorite words:
1. THAMIZH (தமிழ் )
2. GOKUL
This is the word i hear more than any other word in a day. So, for obvious reasons i started liking it.
3. COMMUNISM
The word would be strange for some, mis leading for many.. For me it is a 'Revelation'. Imagine a world where people work together harmoniously. No masters to govern, no slave minds, that would be the heaven in earth.
4. OM
I don't know whether it should be classified as just sound or a word. I go for the later though, as Vedas says that this sound has a meaning(the meaning is said to be a divine one known only by god, i don't buy that theory but still i like this word) It gives a serene feeling to the mind
5. XXXXX
Whats that? well, it is a secret :-)
My five favorite celebrity crushes:
1. to 5.
I have never involved with girls much. Well, we can reframe that previous sentence "Not many were involved with me :-)". So i was left with no other option than to fall for girls On-Screen. My first crush was Juhi chawla for the innocent role she played in 'Andaz apna apna', the it was Preity Zinta. Isnt her dimple enough!!! should one need any other reason?
Then my crush list took a turn from mumbai to kerala. Meera jasmine got my eyes fixed(Run, Ayudha ezhuthu, Kasthuri maan), Bavana looted me away with her innocent looks in the films'Chithiram paesudadi' & 'Deepavali'...
But thats it, they no longer interests me. The Bubbly- Chubby thing isn't sticking to them anymore. :-(
My five favorite random things:
1. MY PC
All my personal stuffs are loaded into this stupid box. Be it a photo of my friend, or songs i love, or whatever important in my life.. All those things are stored as 1's & 0's in this god damn box. Loot my PC and you can bring my daily activities to an halt!!!
2. MY ROOM
It looks most of the time like a scene of catastrophe(unless my amma or sis voluntarily spend time cleaning it & brings it to order) Every Boy.. err Man would love his room. Isnt it?
Its where i dream, I quench my anger, shed my tears... It has almost become a part of my life, like a companion. I LOVE IT
3. MY ONLY GADGET
I am not a gadget freak. Out of the 3 mobile i have :-), the one(& only) which i am currently using is my favorite. It holds some very important info from my past. So for those special reason, i add it to my list.
4. MARINA
It is a spot like the "The Room Of Requirement (HP)", 'A PLACE FOR EVERYONE & EVERYTHING'. I go to this place with different kind of thoughts & emotions and it never fails to satisfy me. It is the one thing i say proudly of chennai.
5. A SECRET
What are you looking for? I said it is a 'secret'. isn't it?
My five Favorite films
1. GUIDE (Hindi)
R.K. Narayan's story, S.D. Burman's music composition, Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman's flawless performance woven into an excellent film... they called it 'Guide'. It is a must watch for those who Likes to be in the field of film making or atleast as those who love films :-)
2. KAL HO NAA HO (Hindi)
'A walk To remember' & 'Aanand' are of the same plot, but this film steals the heart with the spectacular performance of SRK and the trio combo music composers makes every penny you spend for the film worth. It came in a decade when bollywood was too much busy in Hip shaking numbers & fierce fighting sequences!!!. Wonder if SRK would ever come again with a plot & performance like that.
3. Tamil M.A
It's a bold experimentation on screen accompanied & supported by 'Realistic' casting, Unconventional yet beautiful Cinematography, matured composition of music by young Yuvan, etc... held under one title by means of careful direction. The film wasn't a Box office hit, but i am sure that it is a mile stone in the history of Tamil cinema.
4 & 5...
Lot of films, but just two more slots?
That wouldn't be fair, So i am listing all other notable films here
The pursuit of happyness
Wall-E
A walk to remember
Dark Knight
Gone with the wind
Alai payudhey
Mouna raagam
Kanathil Muthamitaal
Naayagan
Veiyil
Salangai Oli
Anbe sivam
A wednesday
Mozhi
Mounam Paesiyadhey
Children of Heaven
The list would continue...

"Misconceptions-My version"
If you think that the topic is so familiar, then that isn’t a misconception. I was forced to look back into my life by vatsan’s article on his misconceptions. It requires courage to break your illusionary image which you hold now and reveal the ‘part of stupidity’ in you.
So here I go to do two most unlikely things; write an article in English, & that too about my childhood beliefs (misconceptions)
Content Warning: The following article may contain loose sentences, worst vocabulary and even grammatical mistakes.
Stomach - A potential Farm land:
Whenever I swallow the seed of a fruit (not that of mango of course), I would have a shake in my shoes hoping that it will grow inside me and in the future the branches would pop out through my ears, mouth, nose..
I remember myself imagining before mirror how I would look after the tree has popped out.
Aliens under my ground:
I have spent hours lying down on earth, observing the sounds I hear on the floor. I fantasized that those were the sounds made by the aliens from the alien world beneath earth’s surface.
Coal maker:
Whenever I find a tree bark, I would bury it under some place and mark the location in my note. After every month or two i go to that place and unearth the tree bark to check whether it is transforming into a piece of coal.
(i left that hobby, after I noticed that they change into nothing but a house of worms.. my school pal ramesh & I have discussed for hours on how tree bark develops worms...)
Funeral service for butterflies:
I had a kind of dramatic love towards butterflies. Whenever I saw a dead butterfly on road, I would bury it near my house & many times i have sincerely prayed to god that he need to take care of its soul. Many times I would end up shedding tears.
(The highly contradicting fact is that, when my school pal who was close to me died, I thought it was just a part of life & not a matter to sob)
New world while i sleep:
At the beginning of every day I try to figure what I did while sleeping.
I mentored a theory that i escape from earth into some farther planet & live a different life while i sleep. I even framed proofs that dreams are just memories i carry from my life there in that alien planet.
Ice cream Mountains:
Once I have thought that the huge snowy icy mountains shown in the television are just heap of ice cream. I also believed that the push-cart ice cream vendor gets the ice cream stuffs from those mountains.
The macho man:
As the MTC bus vibrates owing to the engine idling, I would start pushing the front seat with both my hands.. Blimey!!! the bus would start moving.
Scoring Line in cricket:
Have you ever come across a term ‘One Run line’ in cricket field? Most of you wouldn’t have. For many years i thought the fielding restriction line as ‘one run line’. If the ball crosses the line, you score a run. Batsmen just run to change strike. That was my perception then...
Rubber manufacture:
Pour the rice porridge (the water in which you cook rice.. hmmm tamizhla ‘kanchi thanni’) into pen caps, and leave it for a day or two. You’ll have rubber in them. I did this experiment several times, backed by several of my school friends. Every time we would conclude that we have missed a special ingredient which is kept secret by companies like ‘Nataraj’ & ’Camlin’. We tried washing powder, egg, tooth paste, etc as the special ingredient, but in vain.
Appropriate place for a quote-
“ I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work" - Thomas A.
:-)
The inventor:
In my school chemistry lab, i used to pour whatever chemicals i have access to into a test tube hoping that i will end up in finding something accidentally..
Its needless to say that it has never happened.
The misconceptions / foolish beliefs i had after my school days are left out intentionally.

Please post your comment
I am posting some of my own words(just a claim!!!) & if it coincides exactly with someone else's words, then it is just coincidental & i assure that i wont take any legal action against the other person. I expect the same from him, though... in first place :-)
Quotes :
- "Remembrance is the thing which most of the people forget to give to their loved ones"
- "If you want to forget someone then forget the thought of forgetting"
- "The wars of this world can have only one reason, either it should be 'the love for war' or 'the war for love'. "
- " 'Unconditional faith sans expectations' is a divine elixir.. give it to the one, for whom you could lose your self respect"
- " Your shadow is the best companion you could ever have. In the lights of joy, it will be definitely with you, though unnoticed...In the darkness of sorrows, it will be the only one with you.. all around you."

Favourite poem
Author: Robert Browning
I
I said--Then, dearest, since 'tis so,
Since now at length my fate I know,
Since nothing all my love avails,
Since all, my life seemed meant for, fails,
Since this was written and needs must be--
My whole heart rises up to bless
Your name in pride and thankfulness!
Take back the hope you gave--I claim
Only a memory of the same,
--And this beside, if you will not blame,
Your leave for one more last ride with me.
II
My mistress bent that brow of hers;
Those deep dark eyes where pride demurs
When pity would be softening through,
Fixed me a breathing-while or two
With life or death in the balance: right!
The blood replenished me again;
My last thought was at least not vain:
I and my mistress, side by side
Shall be together, breathe and ride,
So, one day more am I deified.
Who knows but the world may end tonight?
III
Hush! if you saw some western cloud
All billowy-bosomed, over-bowed
By many benedictions--sun's
And moon's and evening-star's at once--
And so, you, looking and loving best,
Conscious grew, your passion drew
Cloud, sunset, moonrise, star-shine too,
Down on you, near and yet more near,
Till flesh must fade for heaven was here!--
Thus leant she and lingered--joy and fear!
Thus lay she a moment on my breast.
IV
Then we began to ride. My soul
Smoothed itself out, a long-cramped scroll
Freshening and fluttering in the wind.
Past hopes already lay behind.
What need to strive with a life awry?
Had I said that, had I done this,
So might I gain, so might I miss.
Might she have loved me? just as well
She might have hated, who can tell!
Where had I been now if the worst befell?
And here we are riding, she and I.
V
Fail I alone, in words and deeds?
Why, all men strive and who succeeds?
We rode; it seemed my spirit flew,
Saw other regions, cities new
As the world rushed by on either side.
I thought,--All labour, yet no less
Bear up beneath their unsuccess
Look at the end of work, contrast
The petty done, the undone vast,
This present of theirs with the hopeful past!
I hoped she would love me; here we ride.
VI
What hand and brain went ever paired?
What heart alike conceived and dared?
What act proved all its thought had been?
What will but felt the fleshly screen?
We ride and I see her bosom heave.
There's many a crown for who can reach.
Ten lines, a statesman's life in each!
The flag stuck on a heap of bones,
A soldier's doing! what atones?
They scratch his name on the Abbey-stones.
My riding is better, by their leave.
VII
What does it all mean, poet? Well,
Your brains beat into rhythm, you tell
What we felt only; you expressed
You hold things beautiful the best,
And pace them in rhyme so, side by side.
'Tis something, nay 'tis much: but then,
Have you yourself what's best for men?
Are you--poor, sick, old ere your time--
Nearer one whit your own sublime
Than we who never have turned a rhyme?
Sing, riding's a joy! For me, I ride.
VIII
And you, great sculptor--so, you gave
A score of years to Art, her slave,
And that's your Venus, whence we turn
To yonder girl that fords the burn!
You acquiesce, and shall I repine?
What, man of music, you grown grey
With notes and nothing else to say,
Is this your sole praise from a friend,
"Greatly his opera's strains intend,
Put in music we know how fashions end!"
I gave my youth; but we ride, in fine.
IX
Who knows what's fit for us? Had fate
Proposed bliss here should sublimate
My being--had I signed the bond--
Still one must lead some life beyond,
Have a bliss to die with, dim-descried.
This foot once planted on the goal,
This glory-garland round my soul,
Could I descry such? Try and test!
I sink back shuddering from the quest.
Earth being so good, would heaven seem best?
Now, heaven and she are beyond this ride.
X
And yet--she has not spoke so long!
What if heaven be that, fair and strong
At life's best, with our eyes upturned
Whither life's flower is first discerned,
We, fixed so, ever should so abide?
What if we still ride on, we two
With life for ever old yet new,
Changed not in kind but in degree,
The instant made eternity--
And heaven just prove that I and she
Ride, ride together, forever ride?
NOTES:
"The Last Ride Together." The rapture of a rejected lover in the one more last ride which he asks for and obtains, discovers for him the all-sufficing glory of love in itself. Soldiership, statesmanship, art are disproportionate in their results; love can be its own reward, yes, heaven itself.
-THE END-
Robert Browning's poem: The Last Ride Together
